Doing it right takes effort
The research proves it is effective, but you have to do it right to get the benefits. You should:
- setup the social sites: facebook, twitter and others
 - ‘post’ and ‘tweet’ at least daily
 - do it at the right times during the day: 11am, 4pm, 8pm
 - remind people of events a week before, the day before and the day of the event
 - encourage ‘likes’ and comments so that friends of fans also see the posts and tweets
