Social media has been proven to work

With over 800 million people on Facebook, social media has become the most efffective way to reach customers. A Rice University study published in the Harvard Business Review found that the impact of having restaurant customers become facebook fans was “very” significant. They found that facebook fans:

  • made 36 % more visits to the place
  • spent 45 % more of their eating-out dollars at the place
  • spent 33 % more at the place
  • were more likely to recommend the place to friends
  • had a greater emotional attachement to the place
